Mechanical Testing

PFT specialises in on/off site destructive and non-destructive mechanical testing of polyethylene welded joints. We employ the latest technology including new non-destructive weld testing equipment. Currently we offer :

• Bend and Tensile Testing
• Hydrostatic Testing Capability

Bend Testing

When used in conjunction with tensile testing of a welded joint, especially on thicker walled pipes, offers another means of determining work quality.

Tensile Testing

Used to determine the yield strength of the material, the short term welding factor, its ultimate tensile strength and the fracture appearance. An important guide in providing a welded joints ductility, and therefore work quality.
